Team Updates: We are currently testing our mobilization tactic for get out the vote efforts during the November 2008 election. By the end of the semester we will have analyzed our results and begin drafting the conclusion of our research.
Current data shows that citizens between the ages of 18-24 vote at a lower rate than that of older demographics. We are studying voting tendencies of undergraduate students at the University of Maryland. By developing focus groups and a survey, our team will assess the major reasons for the low rates of voter participation. The data will be used to determine an appropriate mobilization tactic to increase youth voter turnout during the 2008 Presidential Election. The results of the mobilization tactic will enable the team to determine if the tactic was successful.
